Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch slices, creating about 12 pieces. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet.
Brush each slice with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, using about half of the olive oil quantity.
Bake the bread slices in the preheated oven for 7–10 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly.
While the bread is toasting, dice the cherry tomatoes into small pieces and place them in a medium-sized bowl.
Finely chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl with the tomatoes.
Mince 1 garlic clove and mix it into the tomato and basil mixture.
Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper to the tomato mixture. Stir to combine and adjust seasoning as needed.
Cut the remaining garlic clove in half. Once the toasted baguette slices have cooled slightly, rub the cut side of the garlic over the top of each slice for added flavor.
Spoon the tomato and basil mixture evenly over each crostini.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
