πŸ“ Instructions

8 steps
1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining, and then set the pasta aside.

2

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the Italian sausage (remove the casings if using sausage links) and cook, breaking it into bite-sized pieces, until browned and cooked through. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.

3

Reduce the heat to medium and add the unsalted butter to the same skillet. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sautΓ© for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant but not browned.

4

Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine. Let the cream simmer gently for 2-3 minutes.

5

Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese a little at a time, allowing it to melt completely. Continue stirring until the sauce is smooth and creamy.

6

Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water, a little at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.

7

Return the cooked sausage to the skillet and stir to coat it in the sauce. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet as well, tossing until the pasta is evenly coated in the Alfredo sauce.

8

Serve immediately, garnished with freshly chopped parsley if desired. Enjoy your Sausage Alfredo Pasta!
