  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 1 medium Green bell pepper
  • 1 cup Mushrooms
  • 4 slices Hoagie rolls or crusty bread
  • 8 slices Provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 4 tablespoons Mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

Start by patting the NY strip steak dry with paper towels. Season it evenly on both sides with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Step 2

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, sear the steak on each side for 3-4 minutes, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness (medium-rare is 130°F or 54°C). Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes.
