📝 Instructions

10 steps
1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, minced garlic, parsley, Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing.

3

Using clean hands, roll the meat mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and set them on a plate or tray.

4

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, browning them on all sides (about 2-3 minutes per side). Transfer the browned meatballs to a plate and set aside.

5

In the same skillet, pour in the marinara sauce. Nestle the browned meatballs into the sauce and simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are fully cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).

6

While the meatballs are cooking, prepare the sub rolls. Split each roll lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through. Brush the insides with melted butter and sprinkle with dried oregano.

7

Toast the sub rolls in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes, or until lightly golden and crisp.

8

Once toasted, layer 2 slices of provolone cheese inside each roll. Place 3-4 meatballs into each roll, spooning additional marinara sauce over the top.

9

Return the assembled subs to the oven for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

10

Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve your Italian Meatball Subs warm. Enjoy!
