Ingredients
- 8 pieces Hot dogs
- 1 tube Crescent roll dough
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
- 1.5 cups Milk
- 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
- 0.5 teaspoons Salt
- 0.25 teaspoons Ground mustard
- 1 tablespoon Parsley (optional, for garnish)
- 1 as needed Nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray it with nonstick cooking spray.
Open the tube of crescent roll dough and separate it into the pre-cut triangles.
Cut each hot dog into two equal halves.
Wrap each hot dog half diagonally with a triangle of crescent roll dough, starting from the wide end and leaving the ends of the hot dog slightly exposed. Place the wrapped hot dogs seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescent roll dough is golden brown and fully cooked. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
While the hot dogs are baking, prepare the cheese dipping sauce. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Once the butter is melted, whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, to create a roux.
Gradually whisk in the milk, pouring a little at a time while continuously stirring to avoid lumps. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the mixture begins to thicken.
Add the shredded cheddar cheese to the saucepan, stirring until melted and smooth. Stir in the salt and ground mustard, adjusting to taste.
Transfer the baked Hot Dippity Dogs to a serving platter and pour the cheese sauce into a small bowl for dipping. Garnish the cheese sauce with parsley, if desired.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
