📝 Instructions

7 steps
1

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix gently with your hands until well combined. Be careful not to overwork the meat.

2

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about 3/4-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

3

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. While the grill heats up, make the deviled sauce by whisking together Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, and hot sauce in a small bowl. Set aside.

4

Lightly butter the insides of the hamburger buns. Place the buns on the grill or in a pan until they are toasted and golden brown, about 1-2 minutes. Remove and set aside.

5

Place the burger patties on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

6

To assemble the burgers, spread a generous layer of the deviled sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a lettuce leaf on top, followed by a cooked patty with melted cheese, a tomato slice, and pickles if using.

7

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately with your favorite sides.
