πŸ“ Instructions

11 steps
1

Prepare the ribs by removing the silver membrane on the back of the ribs if it is still attached. Use a small knife to loosen the membrane, then grip it with a paper towel and pull it off.

2

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to create a dry rub.

3

Rub the spice mixture all over both sides of the ribs, making sure they are evenly coated.

4

Spray your crock pot with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.

5

Place the ribs into the crock pot. If the ribs are too large to lay flat, cut them into smaller sections and stack them up vertically along the sides of the crock pot.

6

Pour 1.5 cups of barbecue sauce over the ribs, making sure they are well-coated. If using, drizzle the liquid smoke on top for added smoky flavor.

7

Cover the crock pot with the lid and cook the ribs on low heat for 8 hours, or until the ribs are tender and nearly falling off the bone.

8

Once the ribs are finished cooking, carefully remove them from the crock pot using tongs (they will be very tender) and place them on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.

9

Brush the remaining 0.5 cup of barbecue sauce evenly on top of the ribs.

10

Optional: Place the ribs under the broiler in your oven for 3-5 minutes to caramelize the sauce and give them a slightly crispy texture.

11

Serve warm with your favorite sides, such as coleslaw or cornbread. Enjoy!
