📝 Instructions

8 steps
1

In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese and garlic powder until well combined. Set aside.

2

Lay the 4 slices of sourdough bread on a flat surface. Spread a thin, even layer of the softened butter on one side of each bread slice. Flip the bread over so the buttered side is facing down.

3

On the unbuttered side of two slices, spread the cream cheese mixture evenly. Top each cream cheese layer with 3/4 cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese and 1/2 cup of diced roasted green chiles.

4

Place the remaining bread slices on top of the filled slices, buttered side facing out, to create a sandwich.

5

Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Gently place the sandwiches in the pan, being careful to keep them intact.

6

Cook the sandwiches for 3–4 minutes on one side, pressing down lightly with a spatula to help the cheese melt and the bread brown evenly. Flip carefully and cook the other side for another 3–4 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.

7

Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for 1–2 minutes. Slice them in half diagonally for easy serving.

8

(Optional) Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro for a burst of flavor and serve immediately while warm.
