In a large, heavy-bottomed pot with a lid, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil (or vegetable oil) over medium heat.

Add 2-3 popcorn kernels to the pot and cover. Once the kernels pop, remove the popped kernels and add the remaining 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels to the pot.
