📝 Instructions

11 steps
1

Thinly slice the beef steak against the grain into bite-sized strips. Place the beef in a bowl.

2

Peel and thinly slice the onions. Set them aside.

3

Mince the garlic cloves and chili (if using).

4

In the bowl with the beef, add soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, ground black pepper, and half the minced garlic. Mix well to coat the beef evenly. Cover and let marinate for 15 minutes.

5

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

6

Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the onions are soft and slightly caramelized. Remove the onions from the skillet and set them aside.

7

Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Increase the heat to high and add the marinated beef in a single layer. Sear the beef for 2-3 minutes on each side until it's browned but still tender.

8

Reduce the heat to medium and return the onions to the skillet. Stir everything together for another 1-2 minutes to combine flavors.

9

Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary with extra fish sauce or lime juice.

10

Transfer the sizzling steak and onions to a serving plate. Garnish with fresh cilantro and additional sliced chili for heat (if desired).

11

Serve immediately with steamed white rice on the side for a complete meal.
