📝 Instructions

10 steps
1

1. Trim excess fat from the beef chuck roast and place it into your crock pot.

2

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper.

3

3. Pour the mixture over the beef in the crock pot, ensuring the meat is mostly covered by the liquid. Add more broth or water if needed.

4

4. Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the beef is fork-tender and easily shredded.

5

5. Once the beef is tender, remove it from the crock pot and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded beef to the crock pot and stir it gently to soak in the cooking juices.

6

6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

7

7. Split the French rolls in half and, if desired, place a slice of provolone cheese on the bottom half of each roll. Toast the rolls in the oven for 5–7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is lightly crisped.

8

8. Using tongs, pile the shredded beef onto the bottom half of each roll. Top with the other half of the roll.

9

9. Ladle the remaining liquid from the crock pot into small bowls to serve as au jus dipping sauce for each sandwich.

10

10. Serve the French dipped sandwiches warm with the au jus for dipping. Enjoy!
