📝 Instructions

10 steps
1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2

In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, and diced onion. Cook until the meat is browned and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.

3

Drain any excess fat from the skillet. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, basil, oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Simmer the sauce on low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4

While the sauce is simmering, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan, and parsley in a medium mixing bowl. Set aside.

5

Spread 1 cup of the meat sauce evenly on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.

6

Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce (no need to cook them if using oven-ready noodles). Add 1/3 of the ricotta mixture on top and spread it evenly. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella over the ricotta. Spread 1 cup of meat sauce on top of the mozzarella.

7

Repeat the layers two more times: noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and meat sauce. Finish with a final layer of noodles, remaining sauce, and top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

8

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil, ensuring the foil does not touch the cheese to prevent sticking.

9

Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the aluminum foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

10

Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before cutting into slices. Serve warm and enjoy!
