Fire up the grill and savor the bold flavors of Cuban cuisine with these irresistible Cuban Style Burgers! This unique recipe combines a juicy blend of seasoned ground beef and pork infused with garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, and oregano, delivering a mouthwatering fusion of savory spices. Topped with melty Swiss cheese, smoky deli ham, tangy dill pickles, and a zing of yellow mustard, these burgers capture the essence of a classic Cuban sandwich in every bite. Toasted buns brushed with butter provide the perfect golden base for these loaded patties, while grilling locks in the flavors and adds a smoky char. Ideal for summer cookouts or casual dinners, these elevated burgers are a must-try for anyone seeking a fresh twist on classic grilling fare. Pair them with crispy fries or crunchy plantain chips for the ultimate tropical feast!
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, around 375°F to 400°F (190°C to 200°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, minced garlic, cumin, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until evenly combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about ¾ inch thick, pressing a slight dent in the center to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.
Brush the grill grates lightly with olive oil to prevent sticking.
Place the patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
During the last minute of grilling, place a slice of Swiss cheese and a slice of ham on each patty. Close the grill lid to melt the cheese.
While the patties are cooking, spread the softened butter on the inside of each burger bun. Toast the buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden and slightly crispy.
To assemble the burgers, spread 1 tablespoon of yellow mustard on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place the grilled patty with ham and cheese on top, followed by 2 slices of dill pickle. Add the top bun to complete the burger.
Serve the Cuban style burgers hot with your favorite side dishes, such as fries or plantain chips. Enjoy!
