Brew 240 ml of strong coffee using your preferred method (French press, drip, espresso, etc.). Set aside.
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the dark chocolate, brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons of the brewed coffee. Stir constantly until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
Add the remaining coffee, brandy, and cinnamon stick to the saucepan. Heat gently, stirring occasionally, for 3–5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Do not let the mixture come to a boil.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Strain the mixture into a heatproof mug to remove the cinnamon stick.
If desired, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form and gently spoon it on top of the coffee.
Garnish with a pinch of grated nutmeg for an aromatic finishing touch.
Serve immediately and enjoy the warming, flavorful complexity of Coffee Diabolique.
