📝 Instructions

10 steps
1

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a kettle or saucepan.

2

Add 2 teaspoons of gunpowder green tea to a traditional Moroccan teapot or any heatproof teapot.

3

Pour about 1/2 cup of the boiling water into the teapot to rinse the tea leaves. Swirl gently, then carefully discard this water while keeping the tea leaves in the pot. This step removes bitterness from the tea leaves.

4

Add 4 tablespoons of granulated sugar to the teapot and stir gently to dissolve the sugar.

5

Add the fresh mint leaves (stems included) directly into the teapot on top of the tea leaves.

6

Fill the teapot with the remaining boiling water to steep all the ingredients together.

7

Put the teapot over low heat if it is heatproof, or let the tea steep for 5 minutes to develop its flavors.

8

To mix the tea properly, pour it from the teapot into a cup, then back into the teapot from a height. Repeat this process 2–3 times to aerate the tea.

9

Taste and adjust the sweetness with more sugar, if desired.

10

Serve the tea in small Moroccan tea glasses, pouring from a height to create a slight foam on the top. Garnish with additional fresh mint leaves if desired.
