Slice each croissant horizontally with a sharp bread knife and set them aside.
Thinly slice the tomato into even rounds and set aside.
In a skillet over medium heat, add half of the butter. Once melted, add the sliced ham and cook for 2 minutes on each side until warmed through and slightly browned. Remove from skillet and keep warm.
Add the remaining butter to the skillet and lightly toast the cut sides of the croissants until golden brown. This should take about 1-2 minutes. Remove and set aside.
Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise evenly on each bottom half of the croissants.
Layer 2 slices of ham, 1 slice of Swiss cheese, 1 lettuce leaf, and a couple of tomato slices on the bottom half of each croissant.
Sprinkle lightly with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Place the top half of each croissant over the fillings to complete the sandwich.
Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade croissant sandwiches!
