Wash and dry the heirloom tomatoes, then slice each one into thick Β½-inch slices.
Peel and finely mince the garlic clove.
Heat a large cast-iron skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat until very hot.
Brush both sides of the tomato slices lightly with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and sprinkle with a pinch of salt and black pepper.
Place the tomato slices in the hot skillet in a single layer (work in batches if necessary) and sear for 1-2 minutes on each side, until lightly charred but still holding their shape. Remove from the skillet and set aside on a plate to cool slightly.
In a small bowl, combine the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and thyme.
Arrange the charred tomatoes on a serving plate. Drizzle with the herb-garlic oil mixture and balsamic glaze.
Tear the basil leaves into small pieces and scatter them over the top of the tomatoes.
Finish with an additional pinch of salt and pepper, if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature as a side dish or appetizer.
