📝 Instructions

10 steps
1

In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, water, unsalted butter, and honey. Heat gently over low heat until the butter melts and the mixture is warm (about 110°F). Remove from heat.

2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Stir well to combine.

3

Pour the warm liquid mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon or a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook until the dough begins to come together.

4

Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes by hand on a floured surface or in the stand mixer on medium speed. The dough should become smooth and elastic but slightly tacky to the touch.

5

Lightly grease a large bowl with vegetable oil. Place the dough in the bowl and turn it to coat it in oil. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for 60-90 minutes, or until doubled in size.

6

Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Shape the dough into a smooth loaf and place it into a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan.

7

Cover the loaf pan loosely with plastic wrap or a clean towel. Let the dough rise again for 30-45 minutes, or until it rises about 1 inch above the rim of the pan.

8

During the second rise, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

9

Once the dough has risen, bake it in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.

10

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
