Soft, fluffy, and perfectly golden, these Vegan Texas Roadhouse Rolls bring a plant-based twist to the classic buttery dinner roll you love from the steakhouse. Made with unsweetened almond milk, vegan butter, and organic cane sugar, this recipe captures the rich, slightly sweet flavor and pillowy texture of the original, all while being entirely dairy-free. With a simple yeast proofing process and two satisfying rise cycles, these rolls are ideal for special occasions or everyday meals. Serve them warm, brushed with melted vegan butter, for an irresistible side dish that pairs beautifully with soups, salads, or your favorite plant-based entrees. Perfect for vegan baking enthusiasts and anyone craving restaurant-quality rolls at home!
In a small saucepan, heat the almond milk and 5 tablespoons of vegan butter over low heat until the butter is melted. Let the mixture cool to lukewarm (about 100-110Β°F).
Pour the lukewarm liquid into a large mixing bowl. Stir in the active dry yeast and let it proof for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Mix in the cane sugar and salt. Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing with a wooden spoon or using a dough hook attachment on a stand mixer.
Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes by hand or 5-6 minutes with the stand mixer until itβs soft, smooth, and slightly sticky.
Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
After the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle about 1/2-inch thick.
Cut the dough into 12 equal-sized squares/rectangles. Arrange them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
Cover the rolls with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise again for 30-40 minutes until puffy.
Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush them with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted vegan butter.
Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with vegan butter or a drizzle of maple syrup for an added treat!
