πŸ“ Instructions

12 steps
1

Wash and trim the green beans by snipping off the ends. If the beans are large, cut them into approximately 2-3 inch pieces.

2

Peel and finely chop the onion. Peel and mince the garlic. Dice the tomatoes into small pieces.

3

Heat the olive oil in a large, deep skillet or pot over medium heat.

4

Add the chopped onion and sautΓ© for 3-4 minutes until soft and translucent.

5

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

6

Add the diced tomatoes and stir well. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the tomatoes start breaking down into a sauce.

7

Mix in the tomato paste, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

8

Add the green beans to the pot and stir so they are evenly coated with the tomato mixture.

9

Pour in the water, bring it to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a lid.

10

Let the green beans simmer for 35-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and well cooked. Add a little more water if needed during cooking to prevent sticking.

11

Taste and adjust the seasoning with more salt or pepper, if desired.

12

Remove from heat and allow the dish to cool slightly before serving. This dish can also be served cold or at room temperature, drizzled with extra olive oil if desired.
