πŸ“ Instructions

9 steps
1

Start by preparing the steak: Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels and season it on both sides with salt and black pepper.

2

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steak and sear it for 3-4 minutes per side or until it reaches your desired doneness (medium-rare is recommended at an internal temperature of 135Β°F). Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.

3

While the steak is resting, caramelize the onions. Thinly slice the yellow onion. In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons of butter and melt over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes or until the onions are soft and golden brown. Remove from heat and set aside.

4

Preheat your oven to 375Β°F to toast the hoagie rolls.

5

Slice the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise, but don’t cut all the way through (leave them attached at one side). Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the inside of each roll and sprinkle lightly with garlic powder. Place the rolls cut-side up on a baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes or until lightly golden.

6

Assemble the sandwiches: Start by layering 1 slice each of provolone, cheddar, and mozzarella cheese on the bottom half of each toasted hoagie roll. Top with a generous portion of sliced steak.

7

Divide the caramelized onions evenly among the sandwiches, placing them on top of the steak. Add another slice each of provolone, cheddar, and mozzarella cheese over the onions.

8

Place the assembled sandwiches back in the oven for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

9

Remove the sandwiches from the oven, close the rolls, and serve immediately. Enjoy your melty, cheesy, and hearty Three Cheese Steak Sandwich!
