Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and ground black pepper.
Heat olive oil in a large oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken thighs, skin-side down, and sear for 5-6 minutes until the skin is golden brown and crispy. Flip and sear the other side for 2-3 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
Reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
In a small bowl, whisk together orange juice, orange zest, molasses, soy sauce, honey, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Pour this mixture into the skillet, stirring to combine.
Bring the sauce to a simmer. Return the chicken thighs to the skillet, skin-side up. Spoon some of the sauce over the chicken to coat.
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Remove the skillet from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes. Spoon additional glaze from the skillet over the chicken for extra flavor.
Garnish with chopped parsley and optional orange slices. Serve warm with your favorite side dishes, such as rice or roasted vegetables.
