📝 Instructions

13 steps
1

Warm the milk in a small saucepan until it is lukewarm (about 37°C/100°F). Stir in the granulated sugar and yeast, and let sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture is foamy.

2

Melt the butter in a microwave or stovetop and let it cool slightly.

3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, ground cardamom, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and the egg. Mix until a dough forms.

4

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5-6 minutes.

5

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

6

While the dough rises, prepare the filling by mixing the brown sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl.

7

After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 30x40 cm (12x16 inches).

8

Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top, leaving a small border around the edges.

9

Starting from the longer edge, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces using a sharp knife or dental floss.

10

Place the rolls cut side up into a greased or parchment-lined baking dish, leaving some space between them to expand. Cover with a towel and let rise for another 30 minutes.

11

Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Bake the rolls for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

12

While the rolls bake, make the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and water until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more water if needed.

13

Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool slightly before drizzling the glaze on top. Serve warm and enjoy!
