πŸ“ Instructions

8 steps
1

Bring 4 quarts of salted water to a boil in a large pot. Add the spaghetti or linguine and cook until al dente, according to package instructions (about 8-10 minutes). Drain the pasta, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, and set aside.

2

While the pasta is cooking, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

3

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until fragrant but not browned.

4

Add the shrimp to the skillet, season with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp are opaque and pink. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

5

In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, the lemon zest, lemon juice, chicken broth, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine and simmer for 3-4 minutes, allowing the sauce to slightly reduce.

6

Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, along with the chopped basil, and toss to coat in the sauce. Taste and season with additional salt and pepper if needed.

7

Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, along with 1/4 cup of the reserved pasta water. Toss everything together to combine. If the mixture seems too dry, add more pasta water, a tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.

8

Serve the pasta immediately, garnished with freshly grated parmesan cheese (if using) and additional basil leaves for garnish. Enjoy your Lemon Shrimp with Pasta and Basil!
