Slice the kielbasa into 1/2-inch rounds. Cut the cabbage into wedges, core it, and chop into bite-sized pieces. Peel and dice the onion, and slice the carrots into thin rounds. Mince the garlic cloves and peel and cube the potatoes.
In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the kielbasa slices and cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Remove the kielbasa and set aside.
In the same pot, add the diced onion and sliced carrots. Sauté for about 3 minutes until the onion begins to soften.
