📝 Instructions

11 steps
1

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of the flour, sugar, salt, and active dry yeast. Stir until evenly mixed.

2

In a small saucepan over low heat or in the microwave, warm the milk and butter until the butter is melted and the mixture is just warm (about 110°F). Do not overheat.

3

Slowly add the warm milk mixture and the honey to the dry ingredients. Beat the mixture with a wooden spoon or electric mixer on low speed until combined.

4

Add the egg and continue mixing until incorporated. Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft, non-sticky dough forms.

5

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5-6 minutes.

6

Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl, turning the dough to coat it with oil or butter. Cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.

7

Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions. For each portion, shape a small ball for the bunny’s body and a smaller one for the bunny’s head. Shape two small dough bits as ears and press them onto the head. Attach the pieces by gently pinching the dough together.

8

Place the shaped bunnies onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between them. Cover loosely and let them rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.

9

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Once the bunnies have risen, bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.

10

While the rolls bake, combine 2 tablespoons of honey with 1 tablespoon of water to create a glaze.

11

As soon as the rolls are out of the oven, brush them lightly with the honey glaze for a glossy finish. Serve warm or at room temperature.
