📝 Instructions

7 steps
1

Cut the nori sheets into small pieces or strips using scissors. Alternatively, crumble them by hand into a manageable size.

2

Heat a dry frying pan over medium heat and toast the white and black sesame seeds together for about 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until fragrant. Remove from the pan and set aside.

3

In the same pan, add the bonito flakes and lightly toast them for 1-2 minutes to bring out their aroma. Be careful not to burn them. Set aside.

4

In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, sugar, and salt until the sugar dissolves.

5

Return the pan to medium-low heat and add the nori pieces. Drizzle the soy sauce mixture over the nori and stir constantly for about 1 minute, allowing the liquid to evenly coat the seaweed and evaporate. Be patient as this step ensures the flavors soak into the nori.

6

Remove the pan from heat and allow the nori to cool slightly. Once cooled, mix the seasoned nori with the toasted sesame seeds and bonito flakes in a bowl.

7

Transfer the furikake to an airtight container and store it at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. Sprinkle on rice, noodles, vegetables, or snacks as desired.
