πŸ“ Instructions

8 steps
1

In a medium saucepan, combine eggnog, whole milk, and granulated sugar. Whisk gently to mix, and place the saucepan over medium heat.

2

In a small bowl, whisk cornstarch and egg yolks until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

3

Once the eggnog mixture in the saucepan warms up (but does not boil), slowly add a ladleful of the warm liquid into the egg yolk and cornstarch mixture. Whisk continuously to temper the eggs and prevent curdling.

4

Pour the tempered egg yolk mixture back into the saucepan while whisking continually. Reduce heat to medium-low.

5

Continue to cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it thickens into a pudding-like consistency. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Be sure not to let the mixture boil to avoid splitting.

6

Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in vanilla extract, ground nutmeg, and unsalted butter until fully incorporated and smooth.

7

Pour the pudding into individual serving glasses or bowls. Allow them to cool to room temperature, then cover with plastic wrap (pressing the wrap directly onto the surface of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming) and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

8

Before serving, top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground nutmeg or garnish with a cinnamon stick if desired. Serve chilled and enjoy this festive treat!
