πŸ“ Instructions

9 steps
1

Lay the cube steaks on a clean surface and pat them dry with a paper towel. Lightly season both sides with 1 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp of black pepper. Set aside.

2

Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with paprika and garlic powder.

3

Dredge each cube steak in flour, coating evenly. Dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat it thoroughly in the seasoned breadcrumbs. Repeat for all steaks and set aside.

4

Heat 3 tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the breaded cube steaks in batches, cooking for about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and set on a plate lined with paper towels.

5

In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp of olive oil. Dice the onion and mince the garlic, then sautΓ© them in the skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until softened and aromatic.

6

Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute. Add the red wine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Simmer for 2 minutes to reduce slightly.

7

Pour in the broth and add the bay leaf. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Let the sauce cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

8

Place the fried cube steaks back into the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Cover and cook for an additional 5 minutes on low heat to allow the flavors to meld.

9

Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve warm with rice, potatoes, or crusty bread.
