📝 Instructions

11 steps
1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

2

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

3

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until the mixture becomes thick and light in color.

4

Gradually add in the oil and vanilla extract, beating continuously until well combined.

5

Add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture in three additions, alternating with milk. Mix until just combined after each addition.

6

Divide the batter evenly into two bowls. In a small bowl, mix the cocoa powder with the boiling water until smooth. Stir this mixture into one of the bowls of batter to create the chocolate mixture.

7

Using a tablespoon, scoop 2 tablespoons of the vanilla batter into the center of the prepared cake pan. Then, add 2 tablespoons of the chocolate batter directly on top of the vanilla batter.

8

Keep alternating between the vanilla and chocolate batters, pouring them directly on top of the previous batter, until all the batter is used.

9

Gently tap the cake pan on the counter to release any air bubbles.

10

Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

11

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
