📝 Instructions

14 steps
1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to a 10 x 10-inch square. Transfer it to the prepared baking sheet.

3

Using a small knife, score a 1-inch border around the edge of the pastry, being careful not to cut through completely. This will create a raised border when baked.

4

Prick the inside of the square (not the border) several times with a fork to prevent it from puffing up too much while baking.

5

Slice the tomatoes into thin rounds and set them on a paper towel to drain excess moisture.

6

Finely mince the garlic cloves and mix them with the olive oil in a small bowl.

7

Brush the garlic-infused olive oil over the inside area of the pastry, avoiding the border.

8

Layer the tomato slices evenly across the inside of the pastry, slightly overlapping them.

9

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan evenly over the tomatoes.

10

Tuck the basil leaves in between the tomato slices across the tart.

11

Sprinkle the salt and black pepper evenly over the top.

12

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

13

Allow the tart to cool slightly before slicing it into 9 equal squares.

14

Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy your Tomato Basil Squares!
