📝 Instructions

9 steps
1

Drain the tofu, wrap it in a clean kitchen towel, and place a heavy object on top for 15 minutes to press out excess moisture. Once pressed, cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes.

2

Peel and finely grate the ginger. Mince the garlic. Thinly slice the red bell pepper and chop the green onions into 1-inch pieces.

3

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water to create the sauce. Set aside.

4

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook for about 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and crispy on all sides. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.

5

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the grated ginger and minced garlic, and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.

6

Add the sliced red bell pepper to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender.

7

Return the crispy tofu to the skillet, and pour in the prepared sauce. Stir everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the tofu and vegetables.

8

Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

9

Serve hot over cooked jasmine rice. Enjoy your Tofu Au Gingembre!
