Start by prepping your ingredients. Slice the tomato into thin, even slices.
Toast all 6 slices of bread until golden brown. Optionally, lightly butter the toast on one side.
Cook the bacon in a pan over medium heat until crisp, if not already cooked.
Lay one slice of toast on a clean surface or plate. Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise evenly on the buttered side.
Layer 1 large lettuce leaf, 2 slices of cooked bacon, and 2 slices of tomato onto the mayo-covered toast. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper for flavor.
Top with the second slice of toast. Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and 1 teaspoon of mustard (if using) on the top side of this slice.
