📝 Instructions

8 steps
1

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining, then set the spaghetti aside.

2

2. While the pasta cooks, finely chop the garlic and parsley. Zest and juice the lemon, and rinse the capers (if using).

3

3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.

4

4. Add the red chili flakes and stir for another 30 seconds to infuse the oil with flavor.

5

5. Drain the canned tuna, but do not dry it completely — a bit of oil can be added to the skillet. Break the tuna into chunks as you stir it into the garlic and chili mixture.

6

6. Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss to combine with the tuna mixture. Gradually pour in the reserved pasta water a few tablespoons at a time to help coat the pasta and create a light sauce.

7

7. Stir in the lemon zest, lemon juice, chopped parsley, and capers (if using). Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

8

8. Serve immediately, garnished with more parsley or a drizzle of olive oil if desired. Enjoy your spaghetti with tuna!
