πŸ“ Instructions

13 steps
1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, dry yeast, caster sugar, and salt.

2

Make a well in the center and gradually pour in the warm water and olive oil. Mix with a spoon until the dough starts to come together.

3

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

5

Preheat your oven to 200Β°C (392Β°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

6

Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Flatten it slightly with your hands into a rough rectangle.

7

Scatter the sliced boerewors, grated cheddar, sundried tomatoes, sliced olives, and chopped rosemary evenly over the surface of the dough.

8

Roll the dough up tightly like a Swiss roll and tuck the ends underneath. Place it seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

9

Brush the loaf with the beaten egg to give it a golden finish during baking.

10

Use a sharp knife to make a few shallow slashes on top of the loaf to allow it to expand as it bakes.

11

Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped underneath.

12

Let the bread cool on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before slicing.

13

Serve warm or at room temperature, perfect as a hearty snack or picnic centerpiece.
