Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring frequently, for about 20 minutes until the onions are caramelized and golden. Stir in thyme, salt, and black pepper. Remove from heat and set aside.
