📝 Instructions

8 steps
1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Spread the hazelnuts in a single layer on a baking sheet and roast them for 10 minutes, stirring halfway, until the skins darken and crack slightly.

2

Remove the hazelnuts from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Place them in a clean kitchen towel and rub vigorously to remove most of the skins. It’s okay if some skins remain.

3

Transfer the hazelnuts to a food processor. Blend for 5–7 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed, until the hazelnuts turn into a creamy butter.

4

While processing the hazelnuts, melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) or in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each interval until smooth.

5

Once the nuts are fully blended into hazelnut butter, add the melted chocolate, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the processor. Blend until smooth and fully combined.

6

Taste and adjust sweetness or salt as desired. Blend again if adjustments are made.

7

Transfer the mock Nutella spread to an airtight jar or container. Let it cool completely before sealing the jar.

8

Store at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or refrigerate for a longer shelf life. Stir before use if it separates over time.
