📝 Instructions

14 steps
1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and cream cheese. Beat together using a hand mixer or stand mixer until smooth and creamy.

2

Add the vanilla extract and pinch of salt to the butter and cream cheese mixture. Mix until incorporated.

3

Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.

4

Divide the dough into two equal portions, wrap each in plastic wrap, and flatten into discs. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until firm.

5

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

6

Lightly flour your work surface and rolling pin. Roll out one disc of dough to about 1/8-inch thickness.

7

Using a 2.5-inch square or round cutter, cut out shapes from the dough and place them onto the prepared baking sheet. Gather scraps, reroll, and repeat until the dough is used up.

8

Place about 1/2 teaspoon of fruit preserves or jam in the center of each cookie shape. Be careful not to overfill to avoid spillage during baking.

9

Gently fold two opposite edges of each cookie over the filling, overlapping slightly, and press down lightly to seal.

10

Sprinkle the granulated sugar over the folded cookies to add a slight crunch.

11

Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Rotate the baking sheet halfway through cooking for even baking.

12

Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

13

Once fully cooled, dust the Kolachky with powdered sugar for a beautiful finish.

14

Serve and enjoy these delightful cookies with a hot cup of tea or coffee!
