📝 Instructions

11 steps
1

In a mixing bowl, marinate the beef with turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, black pepper powder, and salt. Set aside for 15 minutes.

2

Heat 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in a pressure cooker or heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat.

3

Add the crushed fennel seeds, finely chopped ginger, garlic, and one sprig of curry leaves. Sauté until aromatic.

4

Add the sliced shallots and green chilies to the pot and sauté until the shallots turn golden brown.

5

Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes are soft and blended into the mixture.

6

Add the marinated beef to the pot and mix well to coat the meat with the spice mixture.

7

Pour in 1 cup of water and close the pressure cooker lid. Cook for 3-4 whistles or until the beef is tender. If using a regular pot, cover and simmer for about 30-35 minutes, stirring occasionally and adding more water if necessary.

8

Once the beef is cooked and the gravy has thickened, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of coconut oil in a small pan.

9

Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Then, toss in the second sprig of curry leaves and sauté briefly.

10

Pour the tempered mustard seeds and curry leaves over the cooked beef. Stir well to combine.

11

Serve hot with rice, parotta, or chapati.
