📝 Instructions

11 steps
1

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and position a rack in the lower third of the oven.

2

Remove the packaging from the ham and trim off any excess fat, leaving about 1/4-inch of fat on the surface for flavor and moisture.

3

Using a sharp knife, score the surface of the ham in a crosshatch pattern, creating diamond shapes. Insert a whole clove into the center of some of the diamond shapes for decorative garnish and added flavor.

4

Place the ham on a rack in a large roasting pan and cover it loosely with foil.

5

Bake the ham for 1 hour, allowing it to warm through.

6

While the ham is warming, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, and ground cloves. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture begins to thicken slightly. Stir in the butter until melted and set aside.

7

After the ham has baked for 1 hour, remove it from the oven and increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C).

8

Brush a generous layer of the honey glaze all over the surface of the ham. If using pineapple rings and cherries, secure them onto the ham with toothpicks before glazing.

9

Return the ham to the oven (uncovered) and bake for another 30-45 minutes, brushing on additional glaze every 10 minutes, until the surface is deeply caramelized and sticky.

10

Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.

11

Transfer to a serving platter and slice the ham. Serve warm, accompanied by any remaining glaze drizzled on top or on the side.
