📝 Instructions

13 steps
1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Line the bottoms of two 9-inch (23 cm) round springform pans with parchment paper and grease the sides.

2

In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and 80 grams of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

3

Add the egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

4

Gradually sift in the all-purpose flour and mix until a soft dough forms. Divide the dough evenly and press it into the prepared pans to form an even layer.

5

In a clean bowl, whip the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add 200 grams of granulated sugar while continuing to whip until stiff, glossy peaks form.

6

Spread the meringue evenly over the dough layers in both pans. Sprinkle the sliced almonds over the top of the meringue.

7

Bake the layers in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the meringue is golden and crisp. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely in the pans.

8

While the layers cool, prepare the whipped cream filling. In a cold mixing bowl, whip the whipping cream, powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

9

Carefully remove one of the cooled cake and meringue layers from the pan and place it on a serving platter, meringue side up.

10

Spread half of the whipped cream over the meringue and top with an even layer of fresh berries.

11

Place the second cake and meringue layer on top, meringue side up. Repeat with the remaining whipped cream and berries to finish the torte.

12

Chill the assembled Himmeltorte in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving. This allows the flavors to meld and the torte to set.

13

Slice and serve chilled for a heavenly dessert experience!
