📝 Instructions

9 steps
1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a square 20cm (8-inch) baking tin with parchment paper.

2

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter, light brown sugar, and golden syrup over low heat. Stir continuously until smooth and fully combined, but do not allow the mixture to boil.

3

Remove the saucepan from heat and mix in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

4

Stir the rolled oats into the butter mixture until everything is evenly coated.

5

Transfer the oat mixture into the prepared baking tin. Use the back of a spoon to press the mixture down evenly and firmly.

6

Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The center will still be slightly soft but will firm up as it cools.

7

Remove from the oven and allow the flapjack to cool completely in the tin (about 1 hour).

8

Once cooled, carefully lift the flapjack out of the tin using the parchment paper and place it on a cutting board.

9

Cut into 8 even squares or rectangles, and serve as a snack or dessert. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
