Slice the kielbasa into 1/4-inch thick rounds. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add olive oil. Cook the kielbasa for 3–4 minutes on each side until lightly browned. Remove from heat and set aside.
Peel and dice the carrots, chop the celery, and finely dice the onion. Mince the garlic cloves.
In the crock pot, add the browned kielbasa, great northern beans, diced tomatoes with their juice, carrots, celery, onion, and garlic.
Pour in the chicken broth. Add the dried thyme, smoked paprika, black pepper, and bay leaf. Stir to combine all ingredients.
Place the lid on the crock pot and set it to cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or on HIGH for 3–4 hours. Stir occasionally during cooking if desired.
