Preheat a grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat and lightly oil the surface with vegetable oil.
In a small bowl, season the chicken breast with salt and black pepper on both sides.
Place the chicken breast on the hot grill or grill pan and cook for about 6-8 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Remove from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
While the chicken cooks, heat a small skillet over medium heat and cook the bacon strips until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan and drain on paper towels.
Lightly toast both halves of the hamburger bun on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the bottom half of the toasted hamburger bun. Place the grilled chicken breast on top.
Add the crispy bacon strips on top of the chicken breast, followed by the lettuce leaf and tomato slice.
Spread the remaining 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the top half of the hamburger bun and place it on top of the sandwich.
Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Chicken Club sandwich inspired by Carl's Jr.
