Cool, creamy, and bursting with fresh Mediterranean flavors, Cacik is a traditional Turkish yogurt dip thatβs as versatile as it is delicious. Made with thick Greek yogurt, crisp cucumber, fragrant dill, and a hint of garlic, this refreshing dip brings together simple ingredients for maximum flavor. A drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil and optional dried mint elevate the dish, while a splash of lemon juice brightens each bite. Ready in just 10 minutes, this no-cook recipe is perfect as a quick appetizer or a cooling side dish to balance hearty meals. Serve it chilled with warm pita, crunchy vegetables, or alongside kebabs for an authentic Turkish dining experience.
Wash and dry the cucumber. Peel it if desired, then finely grate or dice it into small pieces.
Transfer the grated cucumber to a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth. Squeeze out any excess water to prevent the dip from becoming too watery.
In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and cold water. Stir until smooth and slightly thinned out.
Peel and finely mince the garlic clove or use a garlic press to crush it. Add the garlic to the yogurt mixture.
Chop the fresh dill finely and add it to the bowl along with the grated cucumber.
Stir in the extra-virgin olive oil, lemon juice, and salt. If using dried mint, sprinkle it in as well for added flavor.
Mix everything together until well combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning, adding more salt or lemon juice if needed.
Transfer the cacik to a serving bowl and drizzle a little extra olive oil on top for garnish. Sprinkle with additional dill or dried mint if desired.
Serve immediately, or chill in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld. Enjoy with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or as a side to your favorite dishes.
