📝 Instructions

11 steps
1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

2

Add the bow tie pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.

3

Meanwhile, in a steamer or a large pot fitted with a steaming insert, steam the broccoli florets for 5-7 minutes until tender but still bright green. Set aside.

4

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

5

Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let the garlic burn.

6

Stir in the steamed broccoli and toss to coat it in the garlic oil.

7

Add the reserved pasta water to the skillet, a couple of tablespoons at a time, to create a light sauce.

8

Add the drained bow tie pasta to the skillet and toss to combine with the broccoli and sauce.

9

Stir in the lemon zest, lemon juice, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

10

Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

11

Serve warm, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
