📝 Instructions

7 steps
1

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Position the oven rack in the lower third of the oven.

2

Place the ham, flat side down, in a large roasting pan. If desired, use a knife to score the surface in a diamond pattern and stud with whole cloves in the intersections.

3

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the honey, dark brown sugar, butter, Dijon mustard, fresh thyme leaves, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and orange juice. Heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture becomes smooth, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

4

Pour the water into the bottom of the roasting pan to prevent the drippings from burning during baking. Cover the ham loosely with foil.

5

Bake the ham in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 30 minutes, basting with the prepared glaze every 30 minutes.

6

After 1 hour and 30 minutes, remove the foil and brush the ham generously with more glaze. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and continue baking for another 20-30 minutes, basting every 10 minutes, until the ham is golden brown and caramelized.

7

Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before carving. Garnish with additional sprigs of thyme if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
