📝 Instructions

10 steps
1

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Place a rack in a large roasting pan.

2

Remove the giblets and neck from the cavity of the turkey. Rinse the turkey thoroughly under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.

3

Place the turkey on the roasting rack and tuck the wingtips underneath to prevent burning.

4

Using your hands, gently loosen the skin over the breast area. Spread 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter evenly under the skin of each breast half.

5

Rub the outside of the turkey with the remaining 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Sprinkle the kosher salt generously over the skin, ensuring even coverage.

6

Insert an oven-safe meat thermometer into the thickest part of the turkey breast, making sure not to hit the bone.

7

Place the turkey in the oven and roast uncovered. Allow approximately 15 minutes of cook time per pound of turkey.

8

Once the internal temperature of the turkey reaches 165°F (74°C), remove it from the oven. This should take about 2.5 to 3 hours for a 12-pound turkey.

9

Tent the turkey loosely with aluminum foil and let it rest for 20 minutes before carving to allow the juices to redistribute.

10

Carve the turkey and serve warm. Enjoy!
