Rinse the yellow moong dal and rice together in plenty of water until the water runs clear. Drain well.
In a pressure cooker, heat the ghee over medium heat.
Add the cumin seeds to the hot ghee and let them splutter for a few seconds.
Add the asafoetida and turmeric powder, stirring quickly to mix.
Add the grated ginger and chopped green chilies, sautΓ©ing for 1-2 minutes until aromatic.
