πŸ“ Instructions

12 steps
1

Preheat the oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F) and grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.

2

Melt the butter and dark chocolate (200 grams) together in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water, stirring occasionally. Once melted and smooth, remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly.

3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the caster sugar, light brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until pale and creamy.

4

Slowly mix the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg and sugar mixture, whisking continuously until fully combined.

5

Sift the self-raising flour and cocoa powder into the wet mixture, folding gently until no streaks remain.

6

Gradually add the milk, mixing until the batter is smooth and evenly combined.

7

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth out the top with a spatula.

8

Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out with a few sticky crumbs (not wet batter).

9

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

10

To make the ganache, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over low-medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and pour over the chopped dark chocolate (150 grams). Let it sit for 2-3 minutes, then stir until the ganache is smooth and glossy.

11

Pour the ganache over the cooled cake, using a spatula to spread it evenly over the top and sides.

12

Let the ganache set for 15-20 minutes, then slice and serve. Enjoy your Sticky Chocolate Cake!
